Workshop on Journal Management and Academic Writing to Support International Publications

The Doctoral Program in Agricultural Science (S3), Faculty of Agriculture, University of Jember, organized a Workshop on Strengthening Journal Management and Academic Writing Capacity for the Internationalization of Publications on Tuesday, 16 December 2025. The event was held at the Hall of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Jember, and conducted in a hybrid format, with participants attending both onsite and online.
The workshop was attended by journal management teams within the Faculty of Agriculture, lecturers, and doctoral students of the Agricultural Science Program (S3). It was designed as a forum to strengthen academic capacity in scientific journal management and to enhance the quality of academic writing for publication in reputable international journals.
The workshop was officially opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Jember, Prof. M. Rondhi, S.P., M.P., Ph.D. In his opening remarks, he emphasized that strengthening international scientific publications requires strong synergy between professional journal governance and solid academic writing skills among lecturers and doctoral students.
The first keynote speaker was Prof. Dr. Ir. Mujiyo, S.P., M.P. (Universitas Sebelas Maret), Editor-in-Chief of Caraka Tani: Journal of Sustainable Agriculture (Scopus Q2), who delivered a presentation entitled “Journal Governance toward International Reputation.” Using Caraka Tani as a case study, Prof. Mujiyo outlined best practices in scientific journal management, including editorial organizational structure, peer-review management, utilization of the Open Journal System (OJS), and strategies to maintain publication quality and consistency in order to compete at the international level.
The second session was presented by Prof. M. Rondhi, S.P., M.P., Ph.D., Lecturer and Researcher at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Jember, as well as Chief Editor of a journal in agricultural socio-economics. His presentation, “Strategies for Successful International Scientific Publication in Agricultural Socio-Economics,” highlighted the importance of clear research focus, scientific novelty, and appropriate journal selection as key factors in achieving successful international publication.
The workshop concluded with a presentation by Dr. Hardian Susilo Addy, S.P., M.P., Ph.D., Lecturer and Researcher at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Jember, entitled “Strategies for Writing Experimental Scientific Articles in Agriculture for International Publication.” This session provided technical guidance on preparing experimental research-based articles, strengthening research methodology, and presenting results and discussions in accordance with international journal standards.
Through this workshop, the Doctoral Program in Agricultural Science (S3), Faculty of Agriculture, University of Jember, aims to enhance the capacity of journal managers, lecturers, and doctoral students in producing high-quality, internationally competitive scientific publications, while further strengthening the academic culture within the Faculty of Agriculture.
