PHILOSOPHICAL BASIS
The Doctoral Program in Agricultural Science (PSDIP) is established based on the Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia (UUD 1945). PSDIP is committed to developing Indonesian human resources with global insight, intellectual excellence, and advanced technological competence. All academic and institutional activities are conducted in accordance with the principles and regulations mandated by the 1945 Constitution.
In alignment with the foundation of the Republic of Indonesia, all actions and endeavors within PSDIP are guided by the values of Pancasila. Graduates of PSDIP are expected to be intellectuals who uphold faith in God Almighty, maintain unity among the people of Indonesia, and dedicate their knowledge and efforts to improving the welfare of all citizens.
HISTORICAL BASIS
The Faculty of Agriculture, University of Jember (FAPERTA UNEJ), was established in 1961 under the Tawang Alun Foundation. In 1962, the faculty became a state institution under the supervision of Airlangga University, and in 1963 it became a branch of the Faculty of Agriculture, Brawijaya University.
Based on the Decree of the Minister of Higher Education and Science No. 151 of 1964, dated November 9, 1964, the Faculty of Agriculture officially became one of the faculties within the University of Jember. At that time, it managed five departments: Crop Production, Agricultural Socio-Economics, Soil Science, Agricultural Technology, and Plant Pests and Diseases.
LEGAL BASIS
Based on the Rector’s Decree of the University of Jember No. 17239/UN25/KR/2016 concerning the Academic Guidelines of the University of Jember, the Doctoral Program in Agricultural Science (S3) is conducted through a structured coursework system, requiring the completion of a minimum of 42 credit hours (SKS) in accordance with the National Standards for Higher Education (SNPT) as stipulated in the Regulation of the Minister of Research, Technology, and Higher Education No. 44 of 2015.
According to the provisions of SNPT Regulation No. 44 of 2015 and the Rector’s Decree No. 17239/UN25/KR/2016, one credit (SKS) is equivalent to 50 minutes of face-to-face learning per week, 50 minutes of structured assignments per week, and 60 minutes of independent study per week.
